"Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons (sic) of the earth. If men (sic) spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves. This we know. The earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth (sic)."
- Chief Seattle
In telling the story of The Peacemaker it is my intent to give a true account of American history in a generational saga to illustrate how violation of this principle has led to the challenges we are facing in the 21st Century, the most immediate being the destruction of the earth and its resources through global warming. It is time to return to the principles of The Peacemaker to turn things around. These were: land stewardship instead of ownership, empowerment of women, and conflict mediation instead of warfare. As individuals begin to realize their part in this we will be able to restore balance and create a future for all sentient beings of the Seventh Generation.
